road trip!

whew, road trip to Oregon was fun! my boyfriend and I set out with our wallets, a cozy blanket, and lots of snacks. easy breezy drive there but on the way back was pretty hectic. I scored some REALLY good deals (Marc Jacobs high-waist skinny zipper jeans for $25 among other things) and it was a lot of fun to get away from home even if just for awhile.

we hit the factory outlet mall on the way back but unfortunately I didn't get anything. my boyfriend was in love at the Nike Outlet though, shoes for so cheap! of course all the ones I liked weren't available in my size though ;(

anyways, video up tomorrow! in the meantime here's some random pictures, hahah.

some frequently asked questions! from now on this post will be linked near the top of my blog, it's just easier to write it all down here in one spot :)

  • how old are you? 19
  • what ethnicity are you? Vietnamese
  • how tall are you? 5'4 ish
  • what do you use to record your videos? a Nikon D3100 dslr
  • can you do a boyfriend tag? probably not, my boyfriend is quite shy. hahah
  • can you do a room tour? I did do a dorm tour already and no for my room at home because my mom has been using it for storage since I've been gone :(
  • where are you from? around Seattle, WA
  • what college do you go to? University of Washington - Seattle campus
  • you do a lot of shopping, do you work? yep, I've had two jobs during the time I've been on YouTube. I sell stuff on eBay as well :)
  • what's up with your YouTube user name? la = "the" in French and frugalista = frugal girl :)
  • why "bigbumsnotbucks"? honestly, I randomly came up with it and "lafrugalista" was taken as a blog url so I went with the big bums name hahah.
  • what's your twitter/facebook/lookbook/formspring, etc? links are on the side of this blog! as for facebook, I don't add people I don't actually know since it's my personal one I've always had. lol, call me paranoid but you never know!

$1.60 Polos from American Apparel?

I was bored last night and browsing AA's website when I came across polos for $1.60... originally $32! That's a savings of about 95%.

They are UNISEX meaning for girls you wanna size down, generally one or two sizes.

In a fitted polo I'd normally wear a size S so XXS in unisex should fit me anyways and if not then hey, resell on Ebay. They're still available on AA's website now in case you're interested. I know there's only one size so that stinks. I also used discount code: STPATRICKSDAY11 to get another 20% off, I think it expires tonight.

I've been in a blazer mood lately. blazers are a great alternative to a coat in spring. just toss one on over whatever and you're good to go. they definitely add some class too. I wore the one below to work today. it was $9.99 from Urban Outfitters.

I found a plain charcoal blazer at the thrift store for $1.99 (they had a bunch of the same ones, it was like leftovers from a store or something). then I bought a pack of vintage-looking buttons from the craft store and sewed them on the shoulders. I started awhile ago but now I'm trying to finish it, you can tell there's less on one side.

spring outfits

Outfits I made on awhile ago. I'm so looking forward to shorts weather! Btw, polyvore is a great website for if you're bored or need some outfit inspiration.
This month I'm loving pale pink and lots of contrast.

summer breezes

Tolo: Candyland

Hey guys! So I just got back from Tolo (a HS dance for those who might not be familiar with the name). The theme was "Candy Land" so I had some fun with it, hahah. Just thought I'd share some pictures of the night :)
